Let’s Organize! Eine Posterinstallation im Schaufenster Kohlenrutsche (DE/EN)

Am Donnerstag, 20. August 2020 laden wir herz­lich zur Eröff­nung von  „Let’s Orga­nize!“ ein. Die Poster­in­stal­la­tion der Künst­lerin Petja Dimit­rova ist eine Koope­ra­tion der UNDOK-Anlauf­stelle mit dem Wohn­pro­jekt Kohlen­rut­sche. Es ist die erste Ausstel­lung im Schau­fenster des neuen Hauses im Nord­bahn­viertel.

Du arbei­test ohne Aufent­halts­pa­piere oder Beschäf­ti­gungs­be­wil­li­gung? Du musst länger als 12 Stunden am Tag arbeiten? Du hast deinen Job verloren und es fehlt noch Lohn? Du sorgst dich um deine Gesund­heit, hast aber keine Kran­ken­ver­si­che­rung? Du hast wegen deines Aufent­halts­status Angst, ärzt­liche Hilfe aufzu­su­chen?

Wende dich an uns! Die UNDOK-Anlauf­stelle infor­miert dich, wie du deine Rechte als Arbeitnehmer*in einfor­dern und durch­setzen kannst – anonym, kostenlos und in verschie­denen Spra­chen. Denn ob mit oder ohne Papiere: Sozi­al­ver­si­che­rungs­ge­setze, Arbeits­recht und kollek­tiv­ver­trag­liche Mindest­stan­dards gelten für alle Menschen, die hier arbeiten!

Das Wissen um die eigenen Rechte ist die wich­tigste Voraus­set­zung, um sich gegen Arbeits­aus­beu­tung zu wehren. Aber: Nicht immer und nicht alles kann auf dem recht­li­chen Weg durch­ge­setzt werden – insbe­son­dere, wenn du aus einem Land außer­halb der EU kommst.

Manchmal kann Orga­ni­sie­rung mehr bewirken. Es gibt viele Möglich­keiten, dir Gehör zu verschaffen und auf schlechte Arbeits­be­din­gungen aufmerksam zu machen: Austausch mit anderen Kolleg*innen, die Öffent­lich­keit infor­mieren, eine Kampagne planen, eine Aktion durch­führen. Nur gemeinsam können wir Macht aufbauen, um uns gegen Ausbeu­tung zu wehren. UNDOK unter­stützt dich und deine Kolleg*innen, wenn ihr euch orga­ni­sieren wollt – mit Vernet­zung, Wissen und Weiter­bil­dung.

Petja Dimit­rova ist bildende Künst­lerin und Akti­vistin und lebt seit 1994 in Wien. Ihre künst­le­ri­sche Praxis bewegt sich zwischen bildender Kunst, poli­ti­scher und parti­zi­pa­tiver Kultur­ar­beit. Sie arbeit in Kollek­tiven und mit poli­ti­schen Initia­tiven, hat an zahl­rei­chen Ausstel­lungen, Publi­ka­tionen und Podi­ums­dis­kus­sionen teil­ge­nommen und lehrt an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste Wien. http://petjadimitrova.net

Das Wohn­pro­jekt Kohlen­rut­sche wohnt seit Herbst 2019 in seinem Haus im Nord­bahn­viertel. In seinem Fenster ladet das Wohn­pro­jekt Künstler*innen ein, sich mit Formen und Bedin­gungen des Zusam­men­le­bens in der Stadt zu beschäf­tigen. Die Kampagne „Let’s Orga­nize!“ von Petja Dimit­rova für die UNDOK-Anlauf­stelle ist das erste künst­le­ri­sche Projekt, mit dem das Wohn­pro­jekt Kohlen­rut­sche eine Ausein­an­der­set­zung und einen Austausch mit seiner gerade entste­henden Nach­bar­schaft beginnen möchte.

We are happy to invite you to the opening cele­bra­tion of the poster instal­la­tion “Let’s Orga­nize” by the artist Petja Dimit­rova in coope­ra­tion with UNDOK. This is the first  project in the new buil­ding in Nordbahnviertel.

Are you working without a resi­dence card or a work permit? Do you have to work more than 12 hours a day? Have you lost your job and have not been (fully) paid? Are you worried about your health, but you are not insured? Are you afraid to go to the doctor because of your resi­dence status?

Do you know that all social insu­rance laws, labor laws and minimum stan­dards of coll­ec­tive bargai­ning agree­ments apply to all workers in Austria, even if you do not have papers?

UNDOK can inform you on how to demand and enforce your rights as a worker. Our legal advise is free, anony­mous, and available in diffe­rent languages. Knowing your rights is the first step to stan­ding up against explo­ita­tion in your workplace.

But it is not always possible to succeed by taking legal action, espe­ci­ally if you are from a non-EU country. Some­times, orga­ni­zing can achieve much more. There are many ways to make yourself heard and to call atten­tion to bad working condi­tions: talking to colle­agues, informing the public, plan­ning a campaign, or taking direct action. We need to orga­nize in order to stand up against explo­ita­tion. If you and your colle­agues want to orga­nize, UNDOK can support you with buil­ding networks, know-how and training.

UNDOK is an initia­tive by labor unions, the Vien­nese Chamber of Labor, the Austrian Students’ Union, NGOs, migrant commu­nity orga­niza­tions, and anti-racist activists.

Petja Dimit­rova is a visual artist and an acti­vist and has been living in Vienna since 1994. Her artistic prac­tice moves between visual arts, poli­tical and parti­ci­pa­tory cultural work. She also works in coll­ec­tives and with poli­tical initia­tives. She teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and has parti­ci­pated in nume­rous exhi­bi­tions, publi­ca­tions and panel discus­sions across Europe. http://petjadimitrova.net

In fall 2019, Wohn­pro­jekt Kohlen­rut­sche moved into its new buil­ding in Nord­bahn­viertel. In its window, Wohn­pro­jekt Kohlen­rut­sche invites artists to inves­ti­gate forms and condi­tions of living toge­ther in a city to begin a debate about and an exch­ange with its curr­ently growing neigh­bour­hood. The campaign “Let’s Orga­nize” by Petja Dimit­rova for UNDOK is its first art project.
